Bussana Vecchia – luogo degli artisti

Bussana Vecchia is a small medieval village located in the Liguria region of Italy, just a few kilometers inland from the town of Sanremo. The village is situated on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and is known for its charming narrow streets, traditional stone houses, and artistic community.

Bussana Vecchia has a long and storied history, dating back to the medieval era when it was an important stop on the pilgrimage route between France and Rome. Over the centuries, the village was inhabited by a succession of peoples, including the Romans, the Lombards, and the Genoese.

In the 19th century, Bussana Vecchia was devastated by a massive earthquake that destroyed much of the village. The survivors abandoned the town and moved to a new settlement on the coast, known today as Bussana Mare. For many years, Bussana Vecchia remained a ghost town, until the 1960s when a group of artists discovered the abandoned village and began to restore the old stone houses.

Today, Bussana Vecchia is a thriving artistic community, with galleries, workshops, and studios scattered throughout the village. Visitors can wander through the narrow streets, admire the colorful murals and street art, and shop for unique handmade crafts and souvenirs.

Bussana Vecchia is also home to several restaurants and cafes, where visitors can enjoy traditional Ligurian cuisine, such as fresh seafood, pasta dishes, and locally produced wines. The village is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, who come to soak up the unique atmosphere and cultural heritage of this fascinating and historic town.
